Autism friendly beach in Rimini: AL MARE – Bagno 112

AL MARE – Bagno 112 is a family-run beach club in Rivazzurra (Rimini) where everyone is welcome as they are. For us, inclusion means concrete things: a beach accessible to people with disabilities, a place for those who come with their dog, and a project that gives autistic people and people with cognitive disabilities work on the beach.

Autistic people as guests and as staff

Since 2021 we have welcomed autistic people and people with cognitive disabilities not only as guests but also as members of staff, through traineeships promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region and local associations. They take on tasks in a very social environment and gain independence at work: not a job for its own sake, but real skills.

What we do for autistic guests

  • Staff who know how to welcome autistic people and their families.
  • A quieter area, away from music, the bar and entertainment: you can ask for an umbrella in a more secluded spot.
  • Music and entertainment can be avoided or turned down near the umbrellas that need it.
  • Visit before you arrive: you can come and see the beach first, or we can send you photos and information to help prepare your child.
  • Quieter times: early morning and late afternoon are the calmest times on the beach.
  • Other tailored support: tell us what you need and we will find a solution together.

A beach where differences are a value

Together with our business and institutional partners, we want to build a community where everyone can be themselves – autistic people, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, vulnerable people. Here, differences become a strength for the whole community.

Accessible and dog-friendly

  • Accessible beach: walkway to the sea, walkway to your umbrella on request, beach wheelchair, accessible toilets and showers, help from our staff.
  • Dog beach: a reserved area where your dog can swim in the sea.
